The Miami FC Return Home to Take Face the Cosmos
- Updated: July 8, 2016
Fresh off of their first match of the Fall Season, a road game to Ft. Lauderdale where they earned a point, The Miami FC are returning home to face off against the defending NASL champion New York Cosmos.
Miami FC fans will be excited to see the orange and blue return to action at The Ocean after they battled the rival Strikers to a 1-1 draw at Lockhart last week. Fans likely remember the 3-0 shut out that the OB’s suffered the last time the Cosmos came to town and will be hoping for an altogether different result this time around.
Fortunately, however, it’ll be two different teams taking the pitch this week than took the pitch the last time the two clubs faced off, back in the Spring Season. The New York Cosmos, as it would happen, have lost two key players in Michael Lahoud and Gabriel Farfan. Both Farfan and Lahoud were in the Cosmos’ starting XI the last time the two teams played. Miami, as fate would have it, signed both Farfan and Lahoud ahead of the start of the Fall Season. (Miami also added midfielders Richie Ryan and Kwadwo Poku since the May 7th match up between the two clubs.)
The Cosmos are coming into this match following a 2-1 home win against the Ottawa Fury last week. The Cosmos had a strong Spring campaign (6-0-4 and finished second in league standings) and will be looking to continue that momentum into the much longer NASL Fall Season. The Miami FC, who had a much poorer Spring Season (1-4-5 and finished last in league standings) are looking to rebound in the Fall Season by earning a much needed 3 points at home.
The match will kick off at 8:00pm (ET) at FIU Stadium (The Ocean) and for those viewing from home the match can be seen on both One World Sports and GolTV.
